BENNINGTON - Robert A. Minke, 92, a former resident of Coulter Road in Shaftsbury, and more recently of the Vermont Veterans Home, died on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 3, 1921, and was the son of Arthur J. and the former Irene B. (Sylvester). Mr. Minke graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Ohio.
Mr. Minke served in the Navy during World War II.
Following the war, he rturned to the northeast and graduated from American International College in Springfield, Mass.
He worked for a short time in West Brattleboro and moved to Bennington in 1951. In earlier years, he was employed at the former Union Carbide Company and at Tansitor Electronics, both in Bennington. He was later employed in the bookkeeping department at Wills Insurance Agency in Bennington as an accountant until his retirement.
Mr. Minke is survived by four daughters, Melissa Minke, Carol Minke, Sue Minke, and Cheryl Poole.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m. at the All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home with Chaplain Kenneth Coonradt, officiating. There will be no calling hours.
