Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mrs. A. Azelda Percey, 91, widow of Clarence Percey, a former resident of School Street, died Friday, April 8, 2005, following a long illness.

Born in Bennington, Nov. 29, 1913, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Lula May (Mathers) Mulligan. She received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School Class of 1931.

Mr. and Mrs. Percey were married Oct. 10, 1933. Mr. Percey died Feb. 11, 1978.

In earlier years, Azelda waitressed at the Vermont Restaurant, the Raleigh Restaurant, the Heritage House Restaurant and at the Mt. Anthony Country Club.

She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Bennington. Mrs. Percey was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 1332 Auxiliary, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 13 Auxiliary.

Mrs. Percey enjoyed reading. Her home and family were her main interests.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy E. Weeks of Bennington; a son, Eugene Percey of Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren, Stephen Gerity and his wife Kathy and Randy Gerity and a great granddaughter, Brittany Gerity, all of Winder, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Mrs. Percey was predeceased by a daughter and son, Shirley Gerity and Harold Percey, a grandson, Kevin Gerity and a brother, George Mulligan.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mary Lee Clark, pastor of the Second Congregational Church, officiating.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. when the family will be attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in the Village Cemetery, Bennington.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Mrs. Percey may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.

All members of the following organizations are asked to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday to conduct services in memory of Mrs. Percey: American Legion Post 13 Auxiliary at 6 p.m. and V.F.W. Post 1332 at 6:15 p.m.
