DORSET -- Ada S. Jones, 96, a lifetime resident of Dorset, passed away Thursday morning, June 9, 2005, at Crescent Manor Care Center in Bennington, where she had resided for the past five years. She was born in South Dorset, on Oct. 31, 1908. She was the daughter of Henry and Jesse (Dunbar) Stannard. She grew up in Dorset and attended local schools.

She married Grover Jones and together raised a family. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. Ada enjoyed her extensive collection of cardinals. She derived great pleasure from her lifetime of pet cats. Her friends and family will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her two sons, Carl and Arthur Jones of Dorset, and her daughter Gloria Jordan of Manchester; her sisters, Carrie Squires, Susan Fleming, Sarah Mylot, and Alice Mulberry, all of Manchester. She was predeceased by her husband Grover in 1955.

Friends may call this Saturday, June 11, 1 to 2 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2. The Rev. Matt Laney, associate pastor of the First Congregational Church in Manchester Village, will officiate.

A private graveside service of committal will take place in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset.
