Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Adeltraut “Adel” Cassano were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church Monday Oct. 13, 2003 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, c.s.c., pastor.

Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Musical selections offered during the mass were, “I Heard the Voice of Jesus,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Ave Maria,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”

The pall that draped Mrs. Cassano’s casket was placed by her two sons and daughters-in-law Rene and Lynne Cassano, and Curtis and Lisa Cassano.

A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by her granddaughter, Sylvia Cassano. The scriptural readings were offered by Christine St. John and Jennifer Durkee. The offertory gifts were presented by Sylvia Cassano and Kristen Walczak and the eulogy was offered by Mrs. Cassano’s son, Curtis.

Serving as acolytes were Jim Kempf, Leonard Anzivino, Gerald Amadon and Valmore Clifford. Michael Walczak served as the cross bearer.

Bearers were Roger Sherman Jr. , Edward St. John Jr. , Tremain Cassano, George Gates, Robert Cassano and Everett Wager.

A prayer service at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass Sunday evening. The wake service was offered by Rev. Robert W. Lozinski.

Attending the calling hours in a group were several employees of the Bennington Post Office and employees and members of Bennington Project Independence of which Mrs. Cassano was a longtime member.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Lozinski offering the committal prayers. Mrs. Cassano’s son, Rene, then read a special letter that had been written in 1976 by Adel’s husband Sylvio P. Cassano.

A reception followed at the church Parish Center.

Mrs. Cassano, a resident of Coleville Road died Thursday Oct. 9, 2003 at her residence. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, Vt.
