SHUSHAN, N.Y. -- Agnes Ruth Stanley, 90, of County Route 64, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. Born June 10, 1912, in Polaski, Fla., she was the oldest of the nine children of Leo and Martha (Martin) Jeskie. The family moved to the Cambridge area when Agnes was a young girl. She had lived at her home on the Batten Kill for more than 40 years.

In her younger years, she worked at Reese Mill and at Asgrow Seed.

Agnes loved to knit and crochet. She made teddy bears which were sold in New York City. She took advantage of living by the Batten Kill and was a great angler.

She is predeceased by her only child, James Baldwin, her husbands, Wilbur Baldwin and Elmer Stanley and five siblings, Leo, Henry, James Joseph and Martha.

Survivors include a sister Mary Carelli of Mechanicville, two brothers, John Jeskie of Danforth, Conn. and George Jeskie of Eagle Bridge; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

A graveside service will be held on May 7, 2003, at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge, at 11 a.m. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Salem Rescue Squad, East Broadway, Salem, NY 12865. Arrangements are under the direction of Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, Cambridge.
