Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A service to celebrate the life of Albert G. “Captain” Rudi Smith was held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Saturday morning with the Rev. Thomas Truscott, interim pastor of the Federated Church of East Arlington, officiating.

Personal memories, stories and tributes were shared by the many friends and family who attended detailing the “Captain’s” full and extensive life. Among those attending were staff members of Mt. Snow ski resort, Williams College football coaches, the Sideline Quarterback Club at Williams College, Prospect Mountain Ski Area and staff of the Golden Eagle Restaurant and the former Jaegar Haus.

A memorial reception followed in the parlor of the funeral home where visitors continued to share stories and honor their friend.

Mr. Smith, 81, a resident of Monroe, Mass., died unexpectedly Monday evening at his home following a day of skiing with his friends.

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington.
