Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Albert J. Clifford, a lifelong resident of Bennington, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

He was born in Bennington on Feb. 9, 1920, the son of Joseph and Florence (Noel) Clifford. He attended local schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Panama and earning the rank of corporal. Albert worked as a plumber for many years for J.H. Winslow Plumbing and Heating in Bennington.

Albert’s greatest interest was spending time at his camp in Searsburg, with his family and friends. He could always be found tending to his gardens, especially building rock gardens at his camp. He loved to cut firewood. He enjoyed fishing and in his earlier years enjoyed hunting. Albert was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed following the New York football Giants with his son, Peter.

He is survived by his son Peter, and his wife, Wilma, of Bennington; two grandchildren, Jessica Clifford of Bennington and Michael Clifford and his wife, Donna, of Petersburg, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ashley and Keegan; nieces and nephews; and his special lifelong friend, Barbara Keith of Readsboro.
