Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A prayer service for Albert J. “Bert” Racicot was held on Friday morning, Oct. 27, 2006, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor, officiating.

Assisting at the Mass was Leonard Anzivino, Joseph Anton, Francis Sausville and Bernard Bourgeois. The pall was placed on the casket by two of Bert’s sisters, Mary Brochu and Theresa Long, his brother, Raymond Racicot, and Mr. and Mrs. John Magas. The cross of resurrection was placed on the pall by his wife, Mary Pat Racicot.

The Old Testament was read by Theresa Rainville and the New Testament was read by Judy O’Connor. Selected music for the Mass included “How Great Thou Art,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “I Am The Bread Of Life,” “Ave Maria” and a special piece, “My Tribute,” was sung by Peter Taylor.

The organist for the Mass was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Monica Murray. The Eucharistic gifts were brought to the altar by Lisa Tubin, Nicolle Nunziata, Diane Probola and Ann Thomayer. Interment services followed at the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington with the Rev. Coppola offering the prayers of committal. Pallbearers for the services were six of Mr. Racicot’s godsons; Darren Magas, Jay Pleasant, Joseph Brochu, Ronald Higgins, Scott Racicot and Patrick Riley.

The vigil service was conducted on Thursday afternoon at the funeral home by the Rev. Coppola.

Albert J. “Bert”Racicot, 80, a resident of Park Street, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 24, 2006, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation. Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
