Albert Wessner Obituary
Albert"Herb" Wessner

1955-2014 Albert "Herb" Wessner left this world peacefully surrounded by family and close friends at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass. Saturday, October 25, 2014 following a brief illness. Herb was born on July 4, 1955 in Manchester, Vermont. He was the son of the late John Peter and Elfriede (Schaefer) Wessner. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Reich American Auctioneer's School in Mason City, Iowa. He was a licensed auctioneer and antique dealer in the Manchester area for many years and ran the Manchester Flea Market for a long time. Herb was an avid history buff and had an extreme knowledge of local Manchester history. In his later years, Herb could be found at many local establishments discussing the area's topics and giving history lessons. He loved surrounding himself with friends and enjoyed helping the "locals" in any way he could, be it by identifying that old photo or antiquity found in a home or just lending his advice. Herb lived life "his way" and would like to be remembered as a person who was understanding and would always help his friends in need. Assuring that needy children had Christmas gifts always brought him special joy. He is survived by his longtime friend, Linda Flederbach of Bennington, Vt.; his niece, Lisa Marie Wessner of Manchester Center, Vt.;, his sister, Carmen West and her husband , Tom of Bend, Oregon; his brother, Harald P. Wessner "Ike" of Kinston, North Carolina and his brother, Manfred A. Wessner and wife, Sheila of Manchester Center, Vt. At Herb's request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A celebration of his is life is scheduled for family and friends on Saturday, November 8 at the Dorr Farm on Route 30 in Manchester Center, Vt. from 2 to 5 p.m. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Albert "Herb" Wessner may be made to the 'Warm the Children Fund' through the office of the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE, PO Box 1316, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
