BURLINGTON -- Aletha Gadue Hubbell, died on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, in Burlington.

She was born in Winooski on Jan. 5, 1920, the daughter of Eugene and Marie Gadue and lived her entire life in Vermont. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary Academy and Bennington High School. She married Charles B. Hubbell on Aug. 31, 1946, in Bennington.

Together they raised three sons. Her husband died in a commercial airline crash on July 31, 1973, in Boston while employed by New England Telephone Co.

Aletha returned to work after her husband’s death. She worked as the administrative assistant at the Medical Center Nursing Home and then moved on to the Utilization Review Department, retiring in 1990.

She was an active member of the Hubbell Geneology Society and enjoyed researching the family history. She was a regular walker at the South Burlington mall and enjoyed her cadre of friends at WalMart. She took great pride in her grandchildren and was always available to help out a friend or relative. She was a long term communicant at St. Anthony’s Church

She is survived by her three sons, Charles G. Hubbell, and his wife Sharon of Tacoma, Wash.; Thomas E. Hubbell and his wife Mary of Bennington; Richard N. Hubbell and his wife Rosemary of Burlington. She is also survived by four grandsons; Richard, Nicholas, Thomas and Seth. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Raymond Gadue and Norman Gadue.

Roman Catholic services will be held in the future at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations can be made to the Vermont Catholic Charities, 351 North Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401.

Arrangements are the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
