SPRINGFIELD -- Alexander “Alex” Partalidis, 70, died Wednesday morning at his home on Whitcomb Street, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 10, 1933 in Drama, Greece, the son of Solomon and Parthena (Hatzitheodorou) Partalidis. He was educated in Greece, and came to the United States in 1965. He resided in the Holyoke, Mass. area for many years, where he owned and operated several restaurants. He later made his home in Bennington, where he owned and operated “Mickey’s Pizza” for 19 years.

The family has recently moved to Springfield where they now own and operate the 371 Restaurant on River Street. He was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Holyoke, Mass. and also belonged to the Bennington Moose Lodge.

One of his favorite pastimes was bowling, both in leagues and with his family.

Survivors include his wife; Pauline M. Partalidis of Springfield; a son, Alexander Partalidis of Springfield; two daughters, Parthena Walker of West Springfield , Mass. and Glykeria Ioannidis of Thessaloniki, Greece; two stepchildren, Heather Clayton of Springfield and Doug Prouty of Bennington; two stepbrothers Stavros and Manoli both of Greece; 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, both here in the U.S. and in Greece. He is also survived by his first wife, Raissa Ignatiadis Partalidis.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Bill Partalidis and John Partalidis.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church on Park Street in Springfield. Rev. Harry Vulopas, pastor of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Holyoke, Mass., will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.

Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel, 99 Summer St., Springfield, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Holy Trinity Church, Main Street, Holyoke, Mass. 01040 or to the Cancer Center at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Hospital Drive, Bennington, VT 05201.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
