Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Alfred J. Marcoux were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor.

The organist was Donald McMahon. The pall that draped Mr. Marcoux’s casket during the funeral Mass was placed by four nieces; Suzanne Jones, Janet Winslow, Sharon Vogel and Judy Flynn. A wooden cross was placed on the casket by Leonie Jones, Mr. Marcoux’s sister. The scriptural readings were offered by a niece and nephew, Robert and Catherine Marcoux. The offertory gifts were presented by Leonie Jones, Suzanne Jones, Sharon Vogel and Judy Flynn. Acolytes were Edward Malloy, Joseph Anton and Leonard Anzivino.

Bearers were six nephews; William Marcoux, Gary Bronson, Richard Giard, Richard Marcoux, Ted Jones and Allen Winslow.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. Military honors were accorded the World War II Navy veteran by Donald Tetreault and William Lorette of American Legion Post 13 in Bennington, who folded the American flag and presented it to Mrs. Jones. Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt.

A reception was held at the home of Bob and Cathy Marcoux following the funeral service.

Mr. Marcoux, a former resident of Maple Street and the Village at Fillmore Pond, died Oct. 10, 2006, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
