HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Alfred William Rowley III, 88, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., who retired to Astatula, Fla., died on Monday, July 31, 2006. Alfred was born on March 2, 1918, in Orange, N.J. He was educated in Cobleskill, N.Y., and graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 1941 he worked for a wood plant in Pittsburgh, Pa., and then in 1943 he moved to Cumberland, Md., and worked for paper mills as an engineer. In 1948 he moved to Hoosick Falls and worked for Wood Flong Paper Corp. as manager of engineering until he retired.

Al is survived by his son, Gilbert (Linda) Rowley, and a daughter, Lynne (Harry) VonHaggin. He is survived also by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Faith Hall Rowley.

A special person in Alfred’s life and heart for more than seven years was Joanne Lyke. She brought joy and laughter to his life.

The family requested that no flowers be sent. Memorial contributions may be made to Hoosick Falls First United Methodist Church.

Interment will be in Bern Cemetery. Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
