WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Alice Irene (Clark) Danaher, 69, of Main Street, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt.

She was born in Pownal, Vt., on Feb. 3, 1935, a daughter of the late Allen Darwin Clark and Alice Mary (Mulligan) Clark. She attended schools in Bennington and graduated from the Bennington High School with the class of 1953. She then graduated from the St. Joseph’s Business College in Bennington.

She was first employed as a secretary at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown. She then was employed as a private health care provider and last employed at the Sweetwood Continuing Care Community in Williamstown. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and homemaker and was a most excellent mother.

She was a longtime and active communicant of St. Patrick and Raphael parish in Williamstown where she served as a greeter and was a member of the St. Patrick Ladies Guild. She also was a member of the Richard Reuther Post No. 152 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Williamstown where she served in several offices. She was an avid gardener.

Her husband Robert J. Danaher Sr., whom she married Aug. 16,1958, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in North Pownal, died March 13, 1995.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosemary Alice Danaher of Williamstown, with whom she made her home, Julie-Ann Marie Danaher of Williamstown and Lisa Monique Kelly of Normal, Ill.; two sons, Robert J. Danaher Jr. of Waitsfield and Darryl F. Danaher of Los Angeles; five grandchildren, Robert Allen Danaher, Sarah Rae Danaher, Brendan Michael Kelly, Meghan Elizabeth Kelly and Kaitlyn Eleanor Kelly; and two sisters, Therese R. Clark of Bennington and Florence Caron of Newtown, Conn.

She was predeceased by one son, Allen E. Danaher, who died Nov. 9, 1993, and one brother, Allen D. Clark Jr.

A liturgy of Christian burial for Alice Irene (Clark) Danaher will be celebrated Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass., are Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the Allen E. Danaher Memorial Scholarship through the funeral home.
