Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- Alice S. Pero, 85, a resident of Route 313 West in Arlington, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Jan. 29, 2008, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington surrounded by her loving family.

Alice was born in Sunderland on April 21, 1922, the daughter of Cyrus and Sylvia (Niles) Secoy, and attended Sunderland schools. She married William Pero on Aug. 5, 1939. Mr. Pero died on April 22, 1988.

Alice loved to fish and hunt, which resulted in many bucks, and hunted well into her seventies. In her later years, she enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She cherished times spent with her family and her fabulous sense of humor was her most significant characteristic.

Alice worked at Arlington High School as a school aide, Mack Molding in their sales department and was the Arlington Town Lister for 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the Harned-Fowler V.F.W. Post 6471 Auxiliary in Manchester and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 69 in Arlington.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Joyce A. “Birdie” Wyman of Arlington; her son, Ronald Pero, and his wife Margaretha Lund of Sandgate; her sisters: Sheila Blair and Janice Rice, both of Manchester; nine granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Harry, Donald and Robert Secoy, and her son-in-law, James Arthur Wyman, who died Sept. 12, 2004.

At Alice’s request, funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Alice’s memory may be made to the Arlington Rescue Squad or the Martha Canfield Library, c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel, P.O. Box 528, Arlington, VT 05250.
