Aline Patsy Johnson

1933 - 2014 Aline Patsy Savage Johnson, 81, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at her residence following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, April 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Ruth Davis Savage. She graduated from Bennington High School in 1951. Her last employment was at Hemmings Motor News, employed there for 33 years. She began working in the production department and moved to the accounting department before retirement. Patsy leaves her daughters, Arla (Chris Barry) Foster, Donna Goodhue and Brenda (Bruce) Lonergan; her stepson, Kenny (JoAnn) Johnson; her sisters, Barbara Savage and Carol Pike; grandchildren, Jeremy Foster, Joshua Gray, Anika Goodhue, Heather, Devon, and Derek Lonergan; Jessica (Kyle) Duignan, Matt (Vanessa) Kjelgaard and great-grandchildren Logan Fortune, Rachel and Zachary Foster, Madison and Hannah Kjelgaard. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Robert, sister, Lianne, and daughter, Nola Foster. Patsy had a love for life, enjoyed entertaining her many friends, enjoyed working outdoors in her many gardens, reading, crossword puzzles, had a talent for crafts and sewing, loved decorating her home inside and out- Christmas being her favorite. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She would visit with a long-time friend daily, Joan Myers, and have "cocktail hour" on the phone when they moved apart. FUNERAL NOTICE: Patsy has willed her body to the Albany Medical School. There will be a Celebration of her Life at her home on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Patsy's name may be made to either the Patient Resource Fund at the Southwest Vermont Cancer Center, VNA & Hospice of SVHC, BAYADA Home Health or the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
