Obituary Condolences

Alison M. Stanton Dumont 1971 - 2009 AUBURN, MAINE Alison M. Stanton Dumont, 38, the grand-daughter of Eugenie Phillips of Pittsfield and the daughter of Mary Phillips, formerly of Pittsfield, and the late Myles D. Stanton of Pittsfield, died Sunday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with her family by her side after brave four-year battle against metastatic breast cancer. She was born in Hartford, Conn., Aug. 11, 1971. She grew up in the Bangor, Maine, area and was a 1990 graduate of Hampden Academy. After relocating to Lewiston, Alison graduated from Bernard's Beauty School in 1992, and had also attended L & A College. She worked as a professional hair stylist for 10 years, and more recently was employed at Bates College as a Chef's Assistant. Her passion was her son, Silas, now five, and her husband, Scott. She was a loving, caring, and patient Mom, always putting the needs of her family first. She loved parties and the beach, as well as biking and making jewelry. Alison was a connector. People gravitated toward her. She would meet and make friends everywhere she went. She even made special ties at the Hope Lodge in Boston while there during her illness. She had a big heart and a strong-willed personality, and fought this battle every step of the way, from one surgery to the next. She never gave up. She astonished her medical team over and over again, proving against the odds her remarkable strength and determination. In addition to her Pittsfield relatives, she leaves her husband, Scott Dumont, and her son, Silas Dumont, both of Auburn; her mother, Mary Phillips and stepfather Thornton Merriam, both of Hampden, Maine; her sisters, Jeannie Hopkins and husband, Fred of Plymouth, Maine; Christine Bowman and Bridget Stanton both of Dixmont, Maine; her beloved in-laws, Paul and Elaine Dumont of Lewiston; sister-in-law Rhonda Bates and husband, Rodney of Auburn.
