Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A prayer service was held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, 2007, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, csc, associate pastor, officiating.

The pall was placed over the casket by Mrs. Cole’s daughter, Ms. Jeanne Cole and her granddaughter, Ms. Kaleigh Biddle. The Cross of Resurrection was placed on the casket by Jeanne Cole.

Assisting at the mass were Mr. Leonard Anzivino, Mr. Gerald Amadon, Mr. Gerald McMurray, and Mr. Theodore Hajos.

The music for the mass was played by organist, Mr. Donald McMahon, and included the hymns “Be Not Afraid,” “My Sheperd Is The Lord,” “I Am The Bread Of Life,” “Song Of Farewell,” “Jesus,” “Remember Me,” and “How Great Thou Art.”

The Old Testament Scripture was read by Mrs. Cole’s niece, Mrs. Juliette Wheeler and the New Testament Scripture was read by Mr. Leonard Anzivino.

The Eucharistic gifts were brought to the altar by two grandnieces, Mrs. Mary Viens, and Mrs. Ann Rangaviz.

Pallbearers for the services were staff members of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home.

Interment followed in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington where Fr. Coppola offered the committal prayers.

Attending the calling hours at the funeral home on Monday evening were a large number of members of the St. Anne’s Society who offered the rosary. Mrs. Cole had been a very active member in St. Anne’s Society for many years.

Mrs. Alma Cole, 90, a resident of the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington died on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, following a long illness.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
