Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Alma E. Shattuck were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by Rev. Vincent Coppola, csc, associate pastor.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the mass were “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings”, “The Strife is O’er” and “Supper of the Lord”.

The casket pall was placed on Mrs. Shattuck’s casket by a nephew William Davis and three nieces Terri Davis, Tammi Loomis and Mary Chapman. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Suzanne Davis. The Scriptural Readings were offered by Dr. Barth Vander Els and Gerald McMurray. The Offertory Gifts were presented to the altar by Ashley Walker, Cortina Davis, Holly Davis and Nikki Davis. Serving as Acolytes were John Reed, Dr. Barth Vander Els and Gerald McMurray.

Serving as pall bearers were Michael Spangenberg, Ryan Davis, Michael Hurley, Tyrell Davis, Lee Loomis and Patrick Chapman.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers.

A reception followed the service at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Center. A prayer service at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass. Mrs. Alma E. Shattuck, a resident of Hurley Lane Bennington, Vermont died Tuesday Jan. 2, 2007 in Bennington. Mrs. Shattuck was pre-deceased by a brother Frederick “Ike” Hurley and a sister Mary Davis.
