Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mr. Alvin (Al) Kennedy were held Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington, where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was concelebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Demasi and the Rev. Edward Howard.

Organist was Mrs. Louise Gauthier and soloist was Denise Oakey. Bearers were four grandsons, Andrew Kennedy, Peter Kennedy, Lou Civello and James McParland. A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral service.

Tuesday evening the St. Patrick’s Council, Knights of Columbus offered a prayer service, and the American Legion Post in Cambridge conducted their services at the funeral home. The scriptural readings were offered by James McParland and Andrew Kennedy. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Lou and Dawn Civello. Words of remembrance were offered by John Mills.

Full military services were offered by the Hansom AFB Patriot Honor Guard at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cambridge, N.Y. with the American flag presented to Mr. Kennedy’s wife, Elizabeth Kennedy.

Burial took place in the family lot in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cambridge. Mr. Kennedy was predeceased by a brother, Edward C. (Ted) Kennedy, who died in 1982. A reception was held at Mr. Kennedy’s home in Cambridge following the services.

Mr. Kennedy, 81, a resident of South Park Street, Cambridge, N.Y., died Monday at his home following a brief illness.
