Alvin E. Shores, Sr.

1934-2014 Alvin E. Shores, Sr., 79, a resident of Lorette Avenue in Manchester, passed away January 7, 2014 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Alvin was born in Mt. Tabor, Vermont on May 10, 1934 the son of the late Ralph and Lydia (Bush) Shores and attended local schools. Alvin worked as a mason in the construction business all his working career. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Manchester and enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to horse and dog races and cherished times spent with his family especially his grandchildren. Alvin is survived by his wife Noreen of Manchester whom he married in Connecticut in 1954, his sons John Shores and his companion Betty of Arlington, David Shores and his wife Peggy of Mt. Tabor, Shane Shores and his companion Laurie and Corey Shores and his fiance Laura both of Manchester, his daughters Jean Wall of Manchester, Kelly Hernandez and her husband Fernando of Kermit, Texas, Scottie Frederick and her companion Mike of Wells and Wendy Strobel and her companion Jim of Manchester, sisters Marion Burke of Whitehall, New York and Anna Keyes of Terryville, Connecticut, twenty grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Alvin "Bucky" Shores and Larry Shores and his daughter Casey Shores. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Alvin will be held Monday January 13, 2014 at 2pm at Brewster & Shea Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont. Interment will take place in the spring in the family lot in Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. A visitation hour will be held from 1-2pm one hour prior to the service. Following the service, everyone is invited to Alvin and Noreen's home. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Alvin's memory may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital c/o Brewster & Shea Funeral Service P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, Vermont.
