1927 - 2015 BENNINGTON Amonda Jane Davis, 88, widow of James F. Davis, a resident of Burgess Road, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington following a long illness. Born in Bennington on March 26, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Matilda (Jensen) Quackenbush. Amonda received her education in the Bennington schools. Following graduation from Bennington High School in 1945 she attended St. Joseph's Business School in Bennington. Amonda and Jim were married in Bennington in 1946. Jim died November 23, 2009. In earlier years, Amonda was employed at BenMont Paper Company and the E.L. Nichols Department store. She later worked for over 20 years at the Department of Employment and Training for the State of Vermont until the time of her retirement. Amonda was a long time member of the Second Congregational Church in Bennington and volunteered as a Gray Lady at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for 23 years. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, J. Scott and Sharon Davis of Guilford, NH; a son, Glenn Davis of Bennington; three grandchildren, Brian, Kyle and Neil Davis; two great-grandsons, Nathan and Owen Davis and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Amonda was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Hallama and Hilda Davis and a brother, Ralph Quackenbush. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 12 Noon with the Rev. Mary Lee Clark, pastor of the Second Congregational Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 11a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Amonda Davis' memory may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
