Amy Krum Mithoefer Obituary
Amy Krum Mithoefer

"Well does she deserve gentle wind and wide white sands." (P.M.) 1949-2013 DORSET Amy Krum Mithoefer, age 64, died at her home in Dorset, on September 24, 2013. She was born June 25, 1949, in New York City, N.Y., to Fritz Krum and Sally Hays Krum. Amy grew up in Pound Ridge, N.Y. with her sister and brother, Wendy and Ted. After her marriage to Biff (Mithoefer) in 1973, they had two sons, Ben and Peter. Starting with a smaller house built with help from neighbors, they moved it up the hill when the family grew, and added on to it so it would always be a gathering place for family and friends. Biff and Amy had their own sitework business, then called Mithoefer Construction, where Amy kept the books. She and Biff loved to ski, which they passed along to both sons. Amy was also a fearless windsurfer, along with the whole family, often spending time at their second home in Maui, well known for excellent windsurfing. The family traveled widely, and Amy brought her memories of all of the places she visited into the design of their home. In recent years Amy and Biff devoted much time and personal attention to helping Tibetan children through the Jamtse Sponsorship Project that they were inspired to found after an audience with H. H. The Dalai Lama. Amy loved to garden and always had vases of wildflowers around the house. She also loved her two constant companions, samoyeds Pema and Lily. Amy is survived by her husband Biff, sons Peter and Ben, Ben's wife Jennifer, and their two daughers, Osha and Jaia. Contributions in Amy's memory may be made to The Jamtse Sponsorship Project (http://biffmithoeferyoga.com/ jamtse-sponsorship-project/).
