Amy Edgerton Stroffoleno

1921-2013 BENNINGTON Amy Edgerton Stroffoleno, 92, a resident of Morgan Street in Bennington and formerly of River Road in West Arlington, passed away July 25, 2013 at her home.

Amy was born in Troy, New York on May 21, 1921 the daughter of Albert and Elva (Buck) Edgerton. She graduated from Arlington Memorial High School, class of 1939 Valedictorian. Amy worked for Mack Molding, the Wayside Country Store, IGA in East Arlington and Bennington College.

Amy was a very active member of the Chapel on the Green in West Arlington. She was involved with the Ladies Aid of the church, very active in her earlier years with Sunday school, bake sales and church suppers. She enjoyed working on church projects such as Turkey suppers, Strawberry Festivals and rummage sales. Amy enjoyed baking, gardening, knitting and making pies, which she would share with everyone in town. Amy was an avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. She was very active for ten years as a 4H leader of the West Arlington Juniors and Battenkill Belles. Amy had a long history as Chairman of the Arlington Bicentennial Committee and was very active with Dr. George Russell's Vermont history collection.

Amy is survived by her children Jo Berry (David) of Bennington, Vermont, Beth Keasling of Fort Collins, Colorado and Fay Poulin (Tom) of Troutville, Virginia, her nephew James Edgerton, nieces Joy Freisatz and Ardis Clark, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many more nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Stroffoleno whom she married May 28, 1939 in Manchester, Vermont. Mr. Stroffoleno died July 1, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her son Jon Robert Stroffoleno, her sister Anna McClintock, her brother James Edgerton, her niece Edith Zindle and her son-in-law Doug Keasling.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Amy Edgerton Stroffoleno will be held Thursday August 1, 2013 at 2pm at the Chapel on the Green in West Arlington. Pastor Keith Mann will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in West Arlington Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held at the church from 1-2pm, one hour prior to the service.
