Andrew Bernard Andersen Jr. 1918-2010 ROCKWALL, TEXAS Andrew B. Andersen Jr., of Rockwall, Texas, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010. Born in Grand Haven, Michigan on Aug. 7, 1918, son of Andrew Bernhard Andersen Sr. (born in Norway) and Gurena M. (nee Knutson) Andersen. "Bernie" received his education in Holland, Mich. and was drafted into the Army in 1943. While stationed in London and Paris he met Shirley B. Mulhern, a WAC in the Army. They married in a Parisian cathedral in January 1945. Andy spent his employed life as a successful salesman for Associated Transport and Yellow Freight. Andy is survived by three daughters, Teeo D'Alessio, with whom he lived at the time of his death, Jill Fortney (Alan) of Bennington, Judi Thompson (Robert) of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; three sons, Jeffrey (Sherrie) of Denver, Colo., Gregory of Roseburg, Ore., and Andrew III of Washington, DC; nine grandchildren, Todd Andersen (April) of Virginia, Lori Lunz (William) and Jeffrey D'Alessio (Suzanne) of Rockwall, Texas, Rachael Fortney of California, Kendall Fortney of Vermont, Erin Andersen of Oregon, Rebecca Lonzi (Patrick) of N.Y.; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters-in law; and newly discovered relatives in Norway. Andy was predeceased by his wife in 1994; brothers Olen and William; sister Hilda; and son-in-law, Lawrence D'Alessio. Arrangements for cremation are with the Rest Haven Funeral Home, Rockwall, Texas.
