1949 - 2016 Andrew John Schneski, 67, a resident of Putnam Street in Bennington died Monday September 19, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanoer, N.H. following a long illness. He was born in Bennington, VT April 17, 1949. He was the son of the late Andrew John Schneski and Helen (Suita) Schneski . He received his education and was a 1967 graduate of Bennington Catholic High School. He married the former Veronica Peglow at Sacred Heart Church in Berlin, New York in 1969. John had been employed by Dodge Construction for nineteen years. He later worked at Petricca Construction in Pittsfield, MA from which he retired. Following his retirement he opened a pool hall in Bennington. John was a communicant of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church. Over the years John coached CYO Basketball, MAYAA Football and Little League Baseball. He most recently coached the Bennington Storm Football team. He enjoyed puttering in the back yard, gardening and caring for his fish pond. He enjoyed watching football and was a Seattle Seahawk fan. He also did some wood working, crafts and enjoyed time spent with his family and especially with his grandson Eli and also with his dogs. Survivors include his wife, Veronica Schneski; their children, Teddy Schneski of San Antonio, Texas, Mark Schneski and Katie Bayler and their son Eli Bayler Schneski of South Londonderry, VT and Stephanie Schneski and her fiance Christopher Evans of Pownal, VT; three sisters, Mary King and her husband James of Bennington, Patricia Babcock and her husband Frank of Bennington and Rose Schneski of Las Vegas, Nevada along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday at 12:30 p.m. and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 1:00 p.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of Andrew John Schneski may be made to the Luekemia Foundation ,PO Box 4072 Pittsfield, MA 01202.
