1983 - 2014 BENNINGTON Angela Lynn Stevens-Root, 30, a resident of Apple Hill Road in Bennington, died on Wednesday morning, Feb. 12, 2014, at her home following a long illness. Angela was born in Bennington on Dec. 12, 1983, and is the adopted daughter of Luella and Richard Root of Bennington. She received her education in Bennington Schools and Mount Anthony Union Schools. Disabled at an early age, there was never a challenge that Angela wouldn't take on and wouldn't conquer. She did not let her disability hold her down. She enjoyed knitting, being in the sun, camping, swimming and was instrumental in teaching her nieces and nephews American Sign Language. She loved her family and being involved in various community activities. Besides her adoptive parents, she is survived by her brother Greg Root and his companion, Jean Andrew, of Bennington; her sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Shawn Stevens of Rutland; nieces and nephews, Joshua Root and his wife, Samantha of Bennington, and Cody, Kylee, Casey and Dillon Stevens, all of Rutland; a special aunt, Nancy Rennert and her husband, Walt of California; an uncle, Jack Connolly and his wife, Margaret of South Londonderry, Vt., and other aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her biological mother Judy Stevens and her brother, Andrew, and daughter, Rosie Stevens and Kurtis Stevens, all of Bennington. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, Norma Stevens and aunts uncles and cousins. Angela is joining her biological father, David Stevens and her paternal grandfather, Wallace Stevens, whom she has missed very much. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, in Bennington, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Joel Tibbits, officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA and Hospice of SVHC through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
