HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Anita F. Brazell, 80, of 10 Nixon St., died Thursday, Nov. 22, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, after a brief illness. She had resided at the Health Center since March.

Anita was born on June 17, 1927, in Hoosick Falls, daughter of the late John and Bridget (Ladden) Brazell. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1946. Anita worked for the Circuit Material Division, part of Allied Signal, at the River Road plant as a secretary for 20 years. She retired in the late 1980s.

After her retirement she went to work for the commissioner of economics in Troy as a secretary for two years. Anita then transferred to the Hoosick Falls area, working for the Rensselaer County Department of Aging for a number of years, until her retirement in January 2005.

Anita was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she devoted over 25 years of service. She managed funds for S.M.A., their fall harvest drive and the church’s bishop’s drive.

Survivors are her sister Bernice Brazell of Hoosick Falls and several cousins. She is predeceased by a sister, Ann Brazell, and a brother, John Brazell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., in Hoosick Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mary’s Academy or the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County through the funeral home.
