Ann L. Flood 1923 - 2008 NORTH BENNINGTON Mrs. Ann L. Flood, 84, widow of John F. Flood, a former longtime resident of McCarthy Acres in North Bennington, died Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Vermont Veterans Home following a long illness. Born in Bennington Dec. 4, 1923, daughter of Thomas J. and Lillian H. Kelson Murphy. Ann received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. She married John Francis Flood, on May 27, 1959. Mr. Flood died Feb. 27, 2006 In earlier years Ann had been employed as a secretary at BenMont Paper Company. She later worked part time at the North Bennington Library. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a member of the Sodality. She also taught religious education classes at Saint Johns. Ann enjoyed baking and her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She leaves a son, John A. Flood, and his wife, Angie, of Shaftsbury; two grandchildren, Felisha Flood and John M. Flood of Shaftsbury; two brothers, Joseph Murphy of Schenectady, N.Y., and Patrick Murphy of Bennington; six sisters, Lena Senecal of Georgia, Mary Frances Murphy, Catherine Murphy, Olga Dunn and Joan Douglas all of Bennington and Barbara Molloy of Arlington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by two sisters Agnes Knowles and Margaret Maguire and two brothers, Leo and Thomas Murphy. FUNERAL NOTICE: At the request of Mrs. Flood calling hours and funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Private committal will take place in the family lot in Saint John's Cemetery in North Bennington. If friends desire contributions in memory of Mrs Ann L. Flood may be made to the Green Mountain Alzheimer's Association through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT.
