1930 - 2015 NORTH BENNINGTON Ann Mackey, 85, a resident of Hall Street, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 17, 2015 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness. Ann was born in Bennington on February 18, 1930. She was the daughter of Maurice J. and Marguerite (Morin) Peckham. In earlier years she had been the North Bennington correspondent for the Bennington Banner reporting on the activities of North Bennington and its residents. For many years Ann had worked as a PBX (switchboard) operator at Bennington College. She later worked as a clerk in the North Bennington Post Office from which she retired. Ann was a devoted and faithful supporter and volunteer at the North Bennington Baptist Church for many years. She was still active with the church's food shelf program and had recently retired as the Church Clerk. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Bob, the company of her family, and most of all helping others. She leaves her husband of 65 years, Robert Mackey, whom she married on September 10, 1949; son, James W. Mackey III and wife, Lonna Nielsen of Shrewsbury, MA; daughters, Margot Hakes and husband, Charles of Berlin, NY and Daphne Turner and husband, Rev. Douglas of Slippery Rock, PA; sisters: Barbara Bruce and Donna Durand, both of Arizona; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, Maurice Peckham Jr. and Robert Peckham. SERVICES: A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the North Bennington Baptist Church. Burial will take place in the Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the North Bennington Baptist Church in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, P.O.
