Anne N. Dignon

1928 - 2010 POWNAL, VT Anne Nichols Dignon, 81, of 556 Mann Hill Rd. Pownal, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at her home.

Born in West Orange, N.J. on June 7, 1928, daughter of Edward R. and Anne Richards Nichols, she attended the Beard School and graduated from Dobbs High School. Anne then attended the Art Students League in New York City, where she studied with Frank Vincent Dumond.

Anne worked as an artist and painted throughout her lifetime. She was also a homemaker to her family. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. She enjoyed sailing.

She leaves her husband, James M. Dignon, whom she married on June 23, 1959; one son, Hugh Dignon of Mendocino, Calif., and one daughter, Diane DeMeo of Austin, Texas.

Two brothers are deceased, Remington and Bruce.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Anne Dignon will be Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown. Burial will be in the spring in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorial donations are suggested to COTY-Haiti-EQR in care of the funeral home.
