1919 - 2016 Anne Florence "Dolly" Eberth, a resident of Gage Street, Bennington, VT, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at Rivers Edge Community Care Home. Anne was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 7, 1919. The daughter of the late Martin and Anna (Boisson) Rahe, Anne was raised by her step father Harry Noren and mother Anna. She received her education in Brooklyn, New York. In November, 1942, in New York City, she married the late John J. Eberth. During World War II Anne lived in San Francisco where she worked in the Navy Yard as a time keeper. After the war she moved back to Queens, NY, where she was employed at Woolworths and the Candy Boutique. She later moved to Danbury, CT and for nine years worked at the National Semiconductor Company in Danbury. Anne then moved to Pownal, VT, where she owned and operated Jerry's Sub Shop for several years. Anne enjoyed horse racing and owned two race horses "Mighty Rice" and "Mr. Pickwick". She also was a volunteer for many years at the Danbury Hospital and the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. She was a member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, VT. Her family was her main interest. She was a kind and generous individual who cherished her family and friends above all worldly goods. It was not uncommon for her to break out in tears when she heard the National Anthem being played or when someone would sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Anne was a fantastic baker and was known to ship her famous crumb cake to family and friends upon request. Grandma, as she was known to her grandchildren and their friends, was a uniquely warm person and made friends easily, often and forever. Survivors include her children, Dr. Linda Eberth and her companion Marian Winsryg of Venice, California; Jack Eberth and his wife Susan of Bow, NH; and Robert Eberth and his wife Pam of Ripley, West Virginia; five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Tony DeVito. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington on Saturday May 21, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Wiseman, c.s.c ,officiating.
