Obituary Condolences

Anne Marie Thibodeau 1914 - 2008 BENNINGTON Anne Marie Bernard Thibodeau, having lived a long and loving life, died on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in 1914, in the French speaking Province of Quebec, Anne emigrated to New York City, where she met and married a fellow Canadian Joseph Thibodeau, who pre-deceased her in 1974. Anne was a J. C. Penny Associate for over 30 years working in the 34th Street store in New York City until it closed, than moving upstairs into the corporate offices. As a proud employee of JC Penny, she delighted in telling people of her encounters with Mr. Penny and what a humble and down to earth man he was. Anne's home, her child and her grandchildren were the central theme in her life. She coddled them while teaching them the value of a dollar as well as the proprieties of living a hard working and honest life. After moving to Bennington years ago, Anne volunteered at the Bennington Museum where she enjoyed working with staff members as well as meeting and greeting visitors. She was a regular communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Anne leaves her daughter, Celine Hoffman and her two grandchildren, David Hoffman, wife Laura and greatgrandson Gareth from Carrollton, Ga., and Justine Reynolds from Houston, Texas. Beside her husband, Anne is pre-deceased by three brothers and two sisters with only her younger sister Madeleine surviving.
