Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Annette Burgess were held on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola c.s.c. associate pastor. A prayer service at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass.

The casket pall was placed on Annette’s casket by her four children, Helen Morandi, Rick Burgess, Jo-Anne Prouty and Mary Burgess-Bradt and a family friend Michelle Toomey. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Annette’s sister Helen Yott. The scriptural readings were offered by a grandson Justin Burgess and a son Rick Burgess. The Offertory Gifts were presented by a daughter-in-law Michelle Burgess and three sons-in-law John Morandi, George Prouty and Jeff Bradt. Words of remembrance were offered by Annette’s grandson Justin Burgess, her daughter Helen Morandi and a sister Helen Yott. A song “Steal Away” that was written by Annette was sung by her children, Helen, Rick, Jo-Anne, Mary and Annette’s sister Helen. Musical selections offered by the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Contemporary Ensemble and sung by Annette’s daughter Jo-Anne Prouty were “Here I am Lord,” “On Eagles Wings,” “Ave Maria” and “You Are Mine.” Ensemble members included, David Estes, Robert and Catherine Marcoux and Noble Levesque. The pianist was Donald McMahon. Serving as Acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Barth Van der Els, Ted Hajos and Gerald McMurray.

Serving as pall bearers were Annette’s eight grandchildren, Justin Burgess, Adrienne Burgess, Erin Morandi, Nathaniel Prouty, Jarod Burgess, Jenifer Prouty, Brendan Bradt and Heather Bradt. Serving as an honorary bearer was Annette’s great-grandson Damon Burgess.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers.

A reception followed the service at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Center.

Sunday evening during the visitation the Rev. James Preskenis, Pastor of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church offered a prayer service with the family.

Mrs. Annette Burgess, 84, a resident of Scott Street, Bennington, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
