Antoinette M. Silver 1923-2011 BENNINGTON Antoinette "Toni" M. Silver, 88, a long time resident of Safford Street in Bennington died Monday May 16, 2011 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington where she had resided since Nov. of 2006. She was born at the family home on May 5, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Deneige Thibault Boutin. She received her education in Bennington where she attended Sacred Heart School. Antoinette married Francis "Red" Silver on February 26, 1949. Mr. Silver died on January 28, 2010. In earlier years Antoinette was employed at several local woolen mills including the EZ Mill. For eleven years she worked at the Union Carbide Corporation in Bennington and later in food service for the Public School System in Bennington. Antoinette was well known for her pea soups and pork pies. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church. Antoinette supported many charities. She was a great homemaker. Her home and family was her main interest. She was well respected by her friends and neighbors and while living at the Vermont Veterans Home there existed a mutual respect and genuine love between Antoinette and the residence and staff at the home. Survivors include three sons, Charles Silver of Bennington, Michael Silver and his wife Marilyn of North Bennington and Patrick Silver of East Concord, Vt. Seven grandchildren, Amanda Silver and Emily Silver both of Bennington, Robert Silver of Baltimore, Maryland, Geoffrey Silver of Bennington, Rebecca Silver of Bennington, Taylor Silver of East Concord, Vt. and Brandon Becker of Bennington; three great grandchildren, Alexia Elizabeth Allard, Maddox Michael Allard and Alexis Becker all of Bennington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by nine brothers and sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday May 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from the All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home at 11 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday May 19, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of Antoinette M. Silver may be made to the Activities Fund at the Vermont Veterans Home through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201
