DORSET -- Arlene Sheldon Green,e 87, a resident of Kirby Hollow Road died unexpectedly Sunday morning at the Northshire Medical Center in Manchester.

Mrs. Greene was in Dorset on March 10, 1916. She was the daughter of Fred and Henrietta (Nichols) Sheldon. She grew up in Dorset where she attended local schools. Mrs. Greene was a graduate of the Putnam Hospital School of Nursing in Bennington where she received her degree as a licensed practical nurse. For many years she had worked in many aspects of nursing including patient care in hospitals, nursing homes, and private duty nursing from which she retired in 1991.

Mrs. Greene was an animal lover and had especially enjoyed her dogs. She loved to cook and was an avid card player, she was a life member of the American Legion auxiliary.

She leaves her husband, Ronald P. Greene Sr. of Dorset, whom she married July 21, 1971 in Dorset; a son, Chester Taft of Manchester; a daughter, Sally Taft of Manchester Village; two stepson,s Ronald P. Greene Jr. of Dorset and Richard Alan Greene of Rutland, also grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Sheldon Lee Taft, who died in 2000, and a brother, Moses Sheldon.

In keeping with Mrs. Greene’s wishes services will be private and be held at the convenience of her family.
