Obituary Condolences

WOODFORD -- Arthur N. “Chic” Carafa Sr., 81, a resident of Woodford, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on July 8, 1924, and attended local schools. Arthur was then self-employed in the restaurant maintenance business for many years in the New York and Connecticut areas. Upon moving to Woodford in 1987, he was employed as a woodworker for nine years for John McLeod, Limited in Wilmington.

He married the former Verna (Sowle) on the Riverbanks in Saugatuck, Conn., on Aug. 20, 1982.

Arthur loved his home. He enjoyed blowing the snow from his driveway and always kept his yard immaculate. He was a huge Harley Davidson biker and loved to ride. He enjoyed traveling by truck or his bike and loved snowmobiling in Woodford. Arthur cherished times spent with his family. He was known affectionatley, in the grandfather club, within his family as “Pop” to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Verna of Woodford; four sons, Anthony Carafa of Redding, Conn., Arthur Carafa Jr. of Brookfield, Conn., Thomas Milazzo of Englewood, Fla., and Louis Milazzo of Wilton, Conn.; six daughters, Linda DeStefano of Palm Coast, Fla., Jill Faryniaz of Stratford, Conn., Julie Hickey of Beverly, Mass., Nickie Milazzo of Wilton, Cheryl Rodriguez of Fairfield, Conn., and Nanette Harrison of Dorset; two brothers, Edward and Ernie Carafa of New York; two sisters, Louise Pagliano and Clara Kopishanski of New York; his common grandson, Joseph Martin Milazzo; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, William Carafa.
