Obituary Condolences

POWNAL -- Arthur Nelson O’Dell, a resident of Sunflower Street in Pownal, died on Sunday morning, April 24, 2005, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington following along illness.

He was born in North Petersburgh, N.Y. on Feb. 21, 1938, and was the son of the late Silas O’Dell and the former Eleanor (Allen) O’Dell, who survives. He received his education in local schools. Mr. O’Dell was employed for 31 years at Johnson Control in the maintenance department. He married the former Beverly Rice. Mrs. O’Dell survives.

In earlier years, Mr. O’Dell enjoyed fishing. He was an avid sports fan, and followed the New York Yankees. He enjoyed watching western movies, and spending time with his dog Nakia.

Besides his mother and wife, Mr. O’Dell is survived by five sons, Dwayne O’Dell of Arlington, James O’Dell of Arlington, Raymond O’Dell of Rutland, Heath O’Dell of Barre and Edward O’Dell of Bennington; two daughters, Tina Myers of Pownal and Rose Carey of Bennington; six stepsons and one stepdaughter; two brothers, Richard O’Dell of North Petersburgh and William O’Dell of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. and two sisters, Agnes Bender of North Bennington and Linda Robinson of Bennington; 10 grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, greatnieces, greatnephews and one great-greatniece.

Mr. O’Dell is predeceased by one son, Arthur, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2005, at 1 at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, with the Rev. John Goyette, pastor of Green Mountain Christian Center, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
