BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Auleta “Lee” Mezowicz, 87, wife of Joseph A. Mezowicz, a resident of West Road, Bennington, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation following a long illness.

Born in Pownal Center, April 4, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Mattison) Welch. She received her education in the Pownal schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Mezowicz were married April 2, 1978 in Cape Cod, Mass. In earlier years she was employed at Cornish Wire and later Warren Wire in Williamstown, Mass. Mrs. Mezowicz also did housekeeping for local families and she enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph A. Mezowicz of Bennington; two sons, Donald Thompson of Fort Myers, Fla. and Walter Thompson of Fort Myers; four grandchildren, Christopher Thompson of Needham, Mass., Danny Thompson of Orleans, Mass., Lisa Mitchell of Enfield, N.H. and Danielle Thompson of Fort Myers; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Beck of Salem, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Mrs. Mezowicz was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Welch, and a sister Barbara Harper.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, April 29, 2005, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
