Barbara Barbagallo 1931 - 2009 SHAFTSBURY Barbara M. Barbagallo, 77, widow of Alfred J. Barbagallo, a former resident of Harvest Hills Drive, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. Born in West Rutland on May 13, 1931, daughter Alan and Mabel Isabelle Anderson McLaughlin, she received her education in West Rutland. In earlier years, Barbara was employed at Country Corner Day Care in North Bennington until the time of her retirement. The Barbagallos had previously resided in Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut before moving back home to Vermont. Barbara was a communicant of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington. She was a great supporter of the and enjoyed playing games, especially pinochle, Yahtzee and collecting Avon products. Her greatest love was time spent with her family and her dog, Dexter The family would especially like to thank Barbara's daughter-in-law, Cathy Barbagallo, for the love and care she provided to Barbara. Her husband, Alfred J. Barbagallo, whom she married Feb. 20, 1952, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rutland, died April 2, 2004. She leaves three sons, A.J. Barbagallo of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., Timothy Barbagallo of Bryn Athyn, Pa., and John Barbagallo of Chicago; three daughters, Mary Therese Wahl of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lisa Cathcart of Poultney, and Christine Barbagallo of Bennington; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Steele of Port Dixon, N.Y., several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by seven brothers, Junior, Ernest, Donald, Howard, Richard, Robert and Alan McLaughlin Jr. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Rutland on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 10 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. There will be no calling hours. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Barbara M.
