1923 - 2014 SOUTH BURLINGTON Barbara Grace Bolton, 1923-2014, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to all, passed away in the comfort of her home late in the morning of August 28, 2014. Barbara was born on February 15, 1923, in Coldwater, the daughter of Nicholas Yonkman and Helen Hadley, and grew up in Grand Haven near Lake Michigan, a favorite place to visit. She received her nursing degree from Michigan State College where she met Wesson D. Bolton, DVM. They were married on August 15, 1945, in Coldwater. Barbara was an active Boston Red Sox fan. She enjoyed her annual trip to Fenway Park, completed once again at age 91 with family and friends in the spring of this year. She was an active participant and supporter of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington. Barbara was guide emeriti with over 30 years of enjoyable service at the Shelburne Museum and had many friends from her years at the museum, her fitness and aging class at the UVM gym and her bridge group. She was predeceased by her husband, Wesson, on March 28, 2007; her son, David, on April 15, 1995, her sister, Mary Kay Jepsen, her sister-in-law, Margaret Moore and husband, Stanley Moore, DD. Survivors include her sons, Raymond and his wife, Rachella, of Bennington, and Charles, Brian and John of South Burlington. Barbara is survived by her five grandchildren, Joanna Bolton, MD, and her husband, James Probola of Santa Rita, Guam, Margery Hajek and her husband, Thomas, of Downingtown, Pa., Jason Bolton and his wife, Emily, of New Castly, Colo., Kaetlyn Roberts and her husband, Thomas, of Camas, Wash., and Kendra Bolton of Austin, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren, Katherine, Lillian and David Probola, Harper and Whitney Hajek, Sidney Roberts and Rosalie Bolton. She is also survived by Suzanne H.M. Bolton of South Burlington, Vt., the mother of Kaetlyn and Kendra. Additional survivors include her sister-in-law, Marilyn Perrin and her husband, David of Charlotte, Vt.; and her brother-in-law, Foster Bolton and his wife, Lillian, of Buelton, Calif. Many Bolton, Perrin, Moore and Jepsen nieces and nephews survive her as well as relatives and friends in western Michigan. FUNERAL NOTICE: Visitation will be Saturday morning, September 6, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Burlington followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. with the Pastor Mark Demers presiding. There will be a burial service in the famly lot at Cabot Plains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Shleburne Museum or the First United Methodist Church of Burlington in care of Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 71 S. Union Street, Burlington, VT 05401, who are in charge of arrangements.
