Barbara Seegitz 1905 - 2008 MANCHESTER, VT. - Barbara Chapin Seegitz, 102, died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 26, 2008, at Equinox Terrace. Barbara was born to Myrtie Crowther Chapin and George Phelps Chapin on Dec. 6, 1905, in Springfield, Mass. In 1926 Barbara graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College. She worked in the Dean's office at Yale University and for a major Boston law firm. During her years in Manchester she was an active volunteer at First Congregational Church and a 25-year volunteer at the Mark Skinner Library.She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Seegitz; her brother, Faxon Dayton Chapin and sister-in-law, Bernice Calderwood Chapin, of Tequesta, Fla; and her stepdaughter, Florence S. Richardson of Burlington, Mass. Barbara resided in the Manchester area for over 40 years. She leaves her nephew, Faxon Dayton Chapin Jr and his wife, Anne Marie, of Breckenridge, Colo.; her great nephews, Kurtis Dayton Chapin, his wife, Carrie, and daughters, Chloe and Karli of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; Erik Allan Chapin, his wife, Jeri, and sons, Parke and Dayton of Breckenridge, Colo.; her step-granddaughters, Nancy Richardson Sanchez, her husband, Robert, of Las Cruces, N.M., and son, Jeffrey, of Austin, Texas; and Ruth Richardson Conley and her husband, David, of Topsfield, Mass. Barbara was greatly loved by all of her family and friends. Her optimistic outlook on life was an inspiration to many and she will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She took an active interest in current events, sports and keeping up to date with her family's and friends' activities. She had a keen interest in the Boston Red Sox and closely followed their recent World Series victory. FUNERAL NOTICE - A graveside service will be held in the spring.
