Obituary Condolences

NORTH BENNINGTON -- Barbara E. Caron, 61, a lifelong resident of the Bennington area, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at her residence on North Bennington Road, following a long illness.

She was born in Bennington on Nov. 16, 1943 and was the daughter of the late George W. and Jennie B. (Robertson) Stevens. She received her education in local schools and is a graduate of Bennington High School. She married David F. Caron in 1961. Mr. Caron predeceased her.

In earlier years, she had been employed at Eagle Square in Shaftsbury, and had been employed at Eveready Battery for 26 years when she retired.

Mrs. Caron was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Bennington and the American Legion Post No. 13 of Bennington.

She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Caron is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Angela Caron of Pownal, and her two daughters, Selena Caron and Michelle Sylvester, both of Bennington. She leaves her four grandchildren, Stephanie Caron, Sheena Caron, Jeremiah Sylvester and Griffin Caron, and her three great-grandchildren, Lauren Barber, Jordan Barber and Landon Caron. She has sisters Jennie B. Finley of Freeport, Texas and Gwen Denio of Bennington.

Funeral services will be held on Friday morning, April 15, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Morneault officiating. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Members of the American Legion Post No. 13 Auxiliary are asked to meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Memorials in her honor may be made to the VNA and Hospice of Bennington through the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
