Barbara G. Stetson BENNINGTON Barbara G. Stetson, 81, died Tuesday, July 15, at the Village at Fillmore Pond after a battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Stetson and had previously resided at the Village at Norton Potter in Bennington, Waterville, Maine, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Oneida, N.Y. Barbara was born in Oneida, the daughter of Daniel and Faith Gray and was raised in Sherrill, N.Y. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and a graduate of Syracuse University. Since returning to Bennington 15 years ago, Barbara volunteered at the S.W.V.M.C. and the Bennington Museum. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Bennington and an avid bridge player. Her two bridge groups were as important part of her life. Barbara was raised an only child and always wanted a large family. She was proud to see her family grow to 25 descendents. She leaves five children, Sally Stetson of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Anne Stetson of Colchester, Vt., Jeanne Pawlick and her husband Carl of Clay, N.Y., Daniel Stetson and his wife, Catherine, of Lakeland, Fla., and Becky Counsell and her husband, Merrick, of Manchester Center; 10 grandchildren, Bob and Scott Decker, Barby Moore, Janice McCarthy, Emilie Pawlick, Kellee Moye, Natalie and Philip Stetson and Travis and Alexis Counsell; 10 great-grandchildren, and one niece, Madelynn Forgey. She also leaves behind a close friend, Page Kwasniak. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main St., Hoosick Falls, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA and Hospice of SVHC, 160 Benmont Avenue, Suite 17, Bennington, Vermont, 05201.
