EAGLE BRIDGE, N.Y. -- Barbara Groben of Eagle Bridge and Ledyard, Conn. died peacefully early Saturday morning, Dec. 20, 2003 in New London, Conn. surrounded by all of her children after battling lung cancer. Mrs. Groben made a career and a life out of loving and caring for her children and her family.

She held various positions throughout her years: Coppercraft guild sales, owner and proprietor of several businesses, including children’s clothing and antiques. She had a love for antiques, decorating and cooking. Most of all she loved family and lived to care for all of her children and grandchildren.

Survivors are her children and their spouses, William M. Groben III and Anne Groben of Chester, Va., David and Margaret Groben of White Creek, Steven and Kathy Groben of Naugatuck, Conn., Daniel and Mary Groben of Waterford, Conn. and Valerie Groben of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Debbie, Richie, Steven, Billy, Christopher, Tony, Maria, Patrick and Bridgette; and a great-grandson, Richard David Groben; her brothers and sister and their spouses, George and Grace Louramore of Florida, Marvin and Eleanor Louramore of Florida and Marcia Louramore of Connecticut; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Groben was predeceased by her husband William M. Groben and a grandson, David A. Groben II.

A memorial funeral mass for Mrs. Groben was celebrated in New London on Monday, Dec. 22.
