Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara J. Hurley were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by Vincent Coppola, c.s.c. , associate pastor.

Organist was Don McMahon and cantor was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the funeral mass were “Ave Maria,” “Amazing Grace,” “Prayer of St. Francis” and “On Eagles Wings.” A wooden cross was placed on Mrs. Hurley’s casket by her son, Keith Hurley. The scriptural readings were offered by a daughter, Donna Engmann and a son-in-law, Curtis White. The offertory gifts were presented by Dianne Hurley, a daughter and by Jacqueline Harte, a niece. Acolytes were Charles Gould, James Kemp, Bernard Bourgeois and Val Clifford.

Bearers were a son, Keith Hurley, two sons-in-law, Michael Engmann and Curtis White and a brother-in-law, James C. Jerome. Honorary bearers from the Catholic Daughters of America were Theresa Long, Mary Francis Murphy, Catherine Murphy, Geraldine Sausville, Rita McCann, Louise Gauthier, Dolly Pallo and Kay Allen.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Thursday afternoon the wake service was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c. ; associate pastor of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.

Members of Court St. Andrew, C.D.A. also conducted their services at the funeral home on Sunday.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Hurley, widow of William A. Hurley, died Dec. 29, 2003 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements were under the dircetion of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
