BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Barbara J. Knights, 72, wife of John R. Knights, a resident of Grandview Street, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

Born in Arlington Sept. 14, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Duane and Ethel (Jordan) Smith. She received her education in Arlington and Bennington and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School and later a graduate of St. Joseph’s Business College in Bennington.

Mr. and Mrs. Knights were married at the Methodist Church in Arlington on Oct. 9, 1954.

In earlier years Mrs. Knights was employed as a clerk at the Vogue & Vanity store in Bennington and later at Paradise Motor Inn.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Her home and family were her main interest and she enjoyed the ocean and family trips to Maine.

Survivors include her husband, John R. Knights of Bennington; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Lee and Kenneth Weber of North Bennington, a son, Bryan J. Knights of Bennington; two grandchildren, Chad Weber and Adrianna Weber both of North Bennington; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Knights is predeceased by two sisters, Clarise McDonald and Dorothy Rogers.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Arlington, at the convenience of the family.
