Barbara Piscopo

1930 - 2015 RUTLAND/BENNINGTON Barbara Cameron Piscopo passed away at Mountain View Genesis in Rutland on July 21, 2015. She was born to Nellie Bryant Cameron and Guy Alfred Cameron in Arlington, VT on February 7, 1930. As a young girl she attended schools in the Arlington area and later went on to study hairstyling and cosmetology. She had a natural ability and shared her skills with friends and family who made many "appointments" in her kitchen over the years. ln 1946 she married Patrick Piscopo, the love of her life, with whom she raised six children. They resided mostly in the town of Bennington and in Rutland. Always a hard worker she often augmented the family income by expertly waiting tables and was a favorite at the 421 Restaurant in Bennington. When the family moved to Rutland she served many years as an instrument sterilization technician at the Rutland Regional Medical Center until retiring in the mid 1990's. Barbara had a wonderful singing voice and while doing dishes after dinner her older daughter remembers fondly, her singing the great hits of the forties and fifties along with the radio. She also had a creative side. She liked to knit and crochet and write poetry. And though she claimed not to like cooking she was very good at it and when birthdays rolled around, she decorated cakes that were worthy of magazine covers. In her later years she liked to read and watch re-runs of old comedies on TV Land. Barbara is survived by her children, Jo Ann L'Esperance ol Lake Stevens, WA, Peter Piscopo of Matthews, NC, Patrick Piscopo of Saco, ME, BobbiJo Sundstrom of Brandon, VT, Perry Piscopo of Cleveland, OH and Paul Piscopo of Yarmouth, ME. Also, her beloved grandchildren, Charlie Piscopo, Jo Ann Sundstrom, Cameron Sundstrom, Drew Piscopo and Heather Massey Koz as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Pat in 1990 and by her brother, Guy Cameron, Jr of Shaftsbury, VT in 2008. A family gathering will take place in the Fall when her ashes will be interred beside her husband at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rutland, VT. Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland, VT.
