Barbara R. Murray 1931 - 2009 BENNINGTON, VT Mrs. Barbara R. Murray, 78, a resident of Houran Road, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family in the home her father was born in. She was born in Bennington, Vt., Jan. 23, 1931, daughter of Leon I. Jacobs and Gwendolyn Charlesworth Jacobs. Educated in Bennington, Barbara was a graduate of Bennington High School class of 1949. She married Bernard A. Murray on Oct. 24, 1953. Barbara's greatest joy in life was the company of her family and friends. She also enjoyed her pets, flower gardens, playing cards at the family camp, long walks, painting, braiding rugs, hunting for collectibles with her friends at tag sales and having coffee with the coffee crew. Barbara was a long time kitchen employee in the Molly Stark and Catamount Schools. She was also a member of the former Bennington Club. She leaves her husband, Bernard A. Murray of Bennington, their children and their spouses, Dennis Murray and Janis of Bennington, Ray Murray and Donna Main of Bennington, Jeff Murray and Karen of Bennington, Lynn Trefry and Hal of Brockton, Mass., and Larry Murray and Eileen of Bennington; three grandchildren, Justin Murray, Trevor Murray and Brianna Murray, a brother Leon Jacobs and his wife Eloise of Bennington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at 11 a.m. where the burial office will be offered by Mother Anita Schell-Lambert, Rector of Saint Peter's Episcopal Church. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Barbara R. Murray may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, the Vermont or the VT Chapter of the through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
