Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A prayer service was held on Tuesday morning, Jan. 11, 2005, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home for Mrs. Beatrice O. Alderman, followed by a Mass of Christian death and burial at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor, officiating.

Upon entering the church, the casket was covered with the pall by Mrs. Alderman’s two sons, Ronald and Roy. The wooden cross was placed on the pall by her daughter-in-law Mary Alderman.

The Old and New Testament scriptures were read by Mr. Leonard Anzivino. The eucharistic gifts were presented at the altar by her sons. Tributes and remembrances were offered by her son Ronald. Selected hymns for the mass were played by organist Donald McMahon and sung by Mrs. Alderman’s daughter-in-law Doris Alderman. The hymns included, “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “On Eagles’ Wings,” “Ave Maria,” and “The Lord is My Shepherd.” Assisting at the Mass was Mr. Leonard Anzivino as crucifer and lecturer, Mr. Dennis Amadon as acolyte, Mr. Francis Sausville as crucifer and Mr. Charles Gould as incense bearer.

Pallbearers for the services included a nephew, Arthur Merchant; granddaughter, Karen Antonio; grandson-in-law, Anthony Antonio; granddaughter, Donna Richards; grandson, Michael Alderman; and grandson, John Alderman.

Interment followed in the family lot in Park Cemetery in Bennington where Father Vincent offered the prayers of committal.

Mrs. Beatrice Alderman, 99, a resident of the River’s Edge Community Care Home in Bennington, died on Friday morning, Jan. 7, 2005, peacefully at River’s Edge. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
